BSI 7671:2018

 

 

The BS 7671:2019 are regulations which apply to the design, erection and verification of electrical installations, and to additions and alterations to existing installations. BS 7671 sets the standard for how electrical installations should be done in the UK (and many other countries) and enables compliance with the law.

Tweddle Engineering expands its workforce

Tweddle Engineering are delighted that Jack Taylor, Simon Craib and Oliver Addison have joined the workforce.

Jack and Oliver New StartersJack Taylor, 25 from Workington, joined Tweddle as a Design Engineer from PAR Systems. When asked why he joined Tweddle Engineering he said that he was looking for a new challenge. He also stated “I am enjoying learning about a new industry and being part of an exciting expanding team”.

Oliver Addison, 19, has entered the company as a Trainee Welder Fabricator. Oliver had previous work experience at DPD and attended Newman School and Carlisle College. In his spare time he enjoys football and motorcross. “I applied to Tweddle Engineering as I wanted to widen my fabrication and welding skills. I am enjoying working at Tweddle Engineering as I am being taught new skills by my skilled colleagues”.

Simon Craib New StarterSimon Craib, 27, previously worked at Tweddle Engineering’s sister company Cumbria Profiling Ltd. Simon made the transition to Tweddle Engineering as an Engineering Labourer. When asked about the move he said “I wanted to further my career and I am interested in learning more about welding and the skills involved.” In his spare time Simon enjoys football and Thai Kickboxing.

Joe Watson, Managing Director, said “It’s great to have Oliver, Simon and Jack as part of the team. We are really pleased that they are enjoying their time with the firm.”

Mechanical Design Engineer - Latest Vacancy

Mechanical Design Engineer (Remote Working Opportunity)

Tweddle engineering are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join and further strengthen our team. The successful candidate will be working alongside our two current Mechanical Design Engineers. This is a small team, so you will be expected to undertake a wide range of activities necessary for the project.

There is an option to work remotely for this role although, there will be a requirement to attend the office periodically.

This role is offered on a permanent basis and offers a fantastic opportunity for the right person.

Tweddle Engineering design, manufacture and install bespoke systems for a range of sectors; specialising in:

  • Timber treatment
  • Sawmill
  • Incising
  • Agricultural

Minimum Required Skills

  • Proficient in the use of 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks or Onshape (3 years’ experience)
  • HND/Degree in engineering or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to complete engineering calculations
  • Knowledge and experience of:
    • Steel fabrication
    • Welding processes

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of developing concept designs
  • Knowledge and experience in the following types of system:
    • Material Handling Machinery / Systems
    • Production Lines
    • Complex Assemblies
    • Hydraulic systems
    • Pneumatic systems

Further Skills

  • Knowledge and experience in the following types of system:
    • Electrical Instrumentation
    • Fluid movement and chemical treatment processes
    • PLC Controlled Electrical Systems
    • Electrical integration and process sequencing
  • Ability to interpret and produce P&ID’s
  • Knowledge of the Machinery Directive & CE Marking
  • Knowledge of the Pressure Equipment Regulations, Pressure Directive and PD5500 Standard

Company Benefits:

The required working hours are 40 to 45 hours per week; Monday to Friday.

Authorised overtime (above 45 hours) is paid at 1.5x the hourly rate.

We offer 20 days holiday plus, public and Bank Holidays.

The Company also offers TOIL (Time Off in Lieu) in addition to the annual holiday entitlement.

The Company is closed between Christmas and New Year and, therefore, these days will be allocated at the start of the holiday year.

An additional day’s holiday is awarded with every 3 years of continuous service.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Circa £35k+ per annum; dependant on experience
