Tweddle Engineering offers a wide range of Specialist Engineering Services. We have the skills required to deliver complex engineering solutions that the customer demands.

Situated in Kirkbride, Wigton, Cumbria, Tweddle Engineering Design, Manufacture and Install bespoke plant and equipment from a covered workshop of over 4700m² situated on a 5 acre site. Timber Treatment Equipment, Material Handling Conveyors, Specialist Trailers, Pressure Vessels and Structural Steelwork are some of the works we undertake. Fully trained site teams carry out all installation works, site maintenance, service and repair. Welding to approved procedures in MIG, TIG and Sub-arc can be offered.

Our multi disciplined office facility can carry out full Project Management, Design and production of Technical Drawings. Single piece fabrications up to 35 tonne can be manufactured, transported and installed. All heavy lifting can be carried out by our installation engineers and all necessary Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Certification is provided. Onsite Pressure and Lift Testing can be carried out and certificated.

Welder Fabricator

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Working hours: We offer 4 working days (Monday - Thursday, 40 hours).
Salary range: £15.00 - £22.00 based on experience.

Role Overview:

We are currently looking to recruit a Steel Fabricator to join our team in the Manufacture of a variety of bespoke Fabrications and Structural Steelwork.

The person should ideally have a wide range of experience in various steel fabrication processes, welding process, along with the ability to read engineering drawings.


Key Responsibilities & Main Duties:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, sketches and work specifications
  • Fabricating/Welding various steel components and structures
  • Ensure all dimensions are checked, verified when required, recorded on dimensional reports and signed.
  • Perform visual examinations of completed welds for compliance prior to being examined by the Welding Inspector.
  • Working accurately and efficiently with a high attention to detail
  • Taking responsibility for time management and scheduling to make sure jobs are completed on time.


Essential Skills/Experience

  • MIG welding, fabrication and development on bespoke steel fabrications in a heavy engineering environment.
  • Experienced in steel fabrication processes.
  • Experience in operating Press-brake, guillotine, steel roller, and bandsaws.
  • Able to fabricate to tight tolerances.
  • Understanding technical drawings.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative, excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to build trust and good working relationships with colleagues. Knowledge of Health & Safety
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • MIG welding: 3 years (required)
  • Fabrication: 3 years (required)
